Examinations
Regular wellness exams are the best way to keep your pet healthy and prevent disease and illness before they become difficult – and costly – to treat. We recommend yearly physical examinations for all pets, though more frequent exams may be needed for older pets.
During a wellness exam we perform a thorough physical examination of your pet. Our veterinarians complete a “nose to tail” exam checking heart and lung functions, testing your pet’s eyes and ears, palpating the abdomen for signs of swelling, testing the joints for signs of arthritis or decreased function and examining your pet’s teeth and oral cavity. We may also perform a series of routine laboratory tests in order to detect parasites such as heartworms and intestinal parasites, as well as to detect signs of heart disease, diabetes, and other internal problems. An examination is also a good time for your pet to get up to date on his or her vaccinations.
Regular exams are extremely important for your pet. Exams give us an opportunity to develop a picture of your pet’s overall health, information that is invaluable when diagnosing and treating your pet. Exams also are an excellent time for you to ask questions that you may have about your pet’s health. We strongly encourage all clients to ask questions and take an active role in their pet’s health care.
When you bring your pet in for an exam, please inform us of any changes in behavior or if he or she is exhibiting unusual symptoms. You are your pet’s greatest ally when it comes to healthcare and keeping track of any lifestyle or behavior changes can help us detect diseases and chronic conditions before they start.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are the cornerstone of your pet’s health care plan. Thanks to recent advances and innovations in veterinary medicine, vaccinations can protect your pet against most major infectious diseases. Vaccines are useful in preventing canine distemper, parvovirus, bordetella (kennel cough), rabies, Lyme Disease and other diseases found in dogs and feline leukemia, panleukopenia, respiratory diseases, and rabies in cats.
When it comes to vaccinations, every pet has unique needs. We administer all the canine and feline vaccinations that are needed for a safe life in our community.
Chronic Disease Management
For some conditions, long-term management is necessary to keep your pet healthy. Greenview Veterinary Hospital provides medical treatment for many chronic diseases, including:

Microchipping
Pet identification is a must! But sometimes, a collar or ID tag is not enough to make sure your pet finds his or her way home safely. Micro chipping your pet is a safe, easy and effective way of keeping your pet safe should he or she become lost.
A microchip is about the size and shape of a grain of rice and is implanted underneath your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades. The procedure is safe and simple and similar to a vaccination. Each microchip is encoded with unique information about your pet (including your contact information). This information is also stored in a national pet database. Veterinary hospitals and animal shelters across the country are equipped with special scanners capable of detecting and reading microchips. If your pet is lost, his or her microchip is scanned and the information is used to reunite you and your companion.
